WORKFORCE SERVICES AVAILABLE FOR VICTIMS OF HURRICANES KATRINA
AND RITA
- JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE Job matching and referral
to area employers for full and part-time employment
opportunities.
- PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYMENT Temporary employment with
local public and nonprofit agencies providing services to other
hurricane victims. Provides up to 30 hours of work per week for
up to six months.
- VOCATIONAL/OCCUPATIONAL TRAINING Short-term
training for jobs in such areas as construction trades,
certified nurses aide, early childhood development, security
guard, and logistics/inventory control.
- SPECIAL WORKSHOPS Workshops on such topics as
resume writing, interviewing skills, stress management/coping
skills, financial management/counseling, life-skills.
- WORK-RELATED SUPPORTIVE SERVICES Services such as
transportation, work clothing, child care, etc. to help
obtain/retain employment and/or participate in training
activities.
